UK Online Safety Act

BestChef is a user-to-user service under Part 3 of the Online Safety Act 2023. Two assessments have been drafted for it:

• Illegal content risk assessment. Which kinds of illegal content the service could carry, how likely each is given what BestChef actually does, and which existing controls bear on it.
• Children's access assessment. Stage 1 and stage 2, reaching the honest conclusion that a self-declared 13+ age gate with no highly effective age assurance does not let the service rule out access by children.

Both are drafts. No lawyer has reviewed either. Ofcom has not seen, accepted, or commented on them, and nothing has been filed with anyone. They are record-keeping documents that the operator must retain rather than pages published to users, so they are not reproduced here. The operator has not yet set an assessment date, and the operator identity in both documents is still an unfilled placeholder.

What to do about content on BestChef

Reporting a recipe, a photo, a comment, or an account happens in the app, which is where the moderation queue and the statement-of-reasons flow live. The community guidelines set out what is not allowed, and the terms of service describe how moderation decisions and appeals work.
