BestChef Community Guidelines
BestChef exists to answer one question: what is the best recipe for every dish? That only works if the kitchen stays honest and welcoming. These rules apply to everything you publish: recipes, photos, videos, comments, chef profiles, dish proposals, and vote proofs.
Cook it for real
- Vote proof means you cooked it. Your proof photo must show the dish you actually made for that vote. Staged photos, stock images, other people's photos, and AI-generated images are vote fraud.
- One photo, one vote. Reusing a proof photo across votes, sharing photos within a group to farm votes, and deleting votes to recast them are all detected and enforced against: duplicate hashes are refused, reused photos across accounts go to moderators, deletions are throttled, and re-votes wait 24 hours and re-enter review.
- Submit your own recipes. Adapting a classic is cooking; copying someone's write-up and photos is not.
Keep it welcoming
Zero tolerance for:
- Sexual content, and any content sexualizing minors (reported to the authorities where the law requires).
- Hate speech, harassment, bullying, or threats. Criticize the plating, never the person.
- Gore, violence, or animal abuse.
- Spam, scams, pyramid schemes, or undisclosed advertising.
- Doxxing or posting anyone's private information.
Food debates get spicy; keep them about the food.
Keep it safe
- No content encouraging dangerous food handling (raw-chicken "hacks", botulism-risk canning shortcuts, and similar).
- Label common allergens honestly when your recipe involves them.
- No selling of regulated goods (alcohol, supplements, medicines).
Reporting, enforcement, and appeals
Every piece of public content has a Report action. Reports go to human moderators with the evidence attached. Depending on severity we remove content, void votes, restrict features, or ban accounts. When we remove, hide, or reject your content, we send you an in-app notification (your notifications feed) that states what happened, the reason category, and that you can appeal. If you think we got it wrong, appeal in-app from My Reports or email support@bestchef.app; a human reviews every appeal and you are notified of the outcome.
Blocking is always available: blocking a chef hides their content from you, hides yours from them, and stops interactions between you server-side.
