Grievance Redressal: India
This page is for users in India. It sets out how to bring a complaint to BestChef under the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.
Grievance Officer
In accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made under it, the name and contact details of our Grievance Officer are:
Name: [TO BE COMPLETED BY OPERATOR BEFORE PUBLICATION - F2]
Designation: Grievance Officer
Email: support@bestchef.app, with the subject line INDIA GRIEVANCE
Address: [TO BE COMPLETED BY OPERATOR BEFORE PUBLICATION - F2]
Working hours: [TO BE COMPLETED BY OPERATOR BEFORE PUBLICATION - F2]
The Grievance Officer is the person to contact about any complaint concerning a violation of the Rules, or about anything else relating to BestChef's services.
How to make a complaint
You can bring a complaint in either of two ways, and you can use both.
In the app. Every piece of public content on BestChef has a Report action: recipes and dish submissions, comments, photos and videos, vote proofs, and chef profiles. Reporting in the app is the fastest route, because it attaches the exact content and its evidence to your complaint automatically. You can follow the status of what you reported under Profile, then My Reports.
By email. Write to support@bestchef.app with the subject line INDIA GRIEVANCE.
To help us act, please include:
- Your name and the email address or chef handle we can reply to.
- What the complaint is about, described clearly.
- Where the content is, for example the chef handle and the recipe, comment, or profile concerned. If you reported it in the app, tell us so.
- Why you believe it breaches the law or our Community Guidelines.
- A statement that the information you have given is accurate.
If you are complaining on someone else's behalf, please say so and tell us your relationship to them.
How long we take
Acknowledgement: within 24 hours. We acknowledge every complaint within twenty four hours of receiving it.
Disposal: within 15 days. We dispose of a complaint within fifteen days from the date we receive it, and we tell you what we decided and why.
Certain complaints: within 72 hours. Where your complaint asks us to remove or disable access to content, and it falls within the categories the Rules specify for expedited handling, we act on it within seventy two hours of receiving it. Our Grievance Officer may ask you for supporting information to help us decide.
Content showing a person without consent: within 24 hours. Where a complaint is made by an individual, or by someone on that individual's behalf, about content that is in the nature of material which exposes that individual's private area, shows the individual in full or partial nudity, shows or depicts the individual in any sexual act or conduct, or is in the nature of impersonation in electronic form including artificially morphed images of that individual, we take all reasonable and practicable measures to remove or disable access to that content within twenty four hours of receiving the complaint.
If you need to raise something in this last category, report it in the app so our moderators receive the evidence trail, and email support@bestchef.app with the subject line URGENT SAFETY. We prioritise these ahead of everything else.
What happens after we decide
If you are unhappy with our Grievance Officer's decision, you may appeal.
Appeal to us first. If a decision affected your own content, you can contest it inside the app under Profile, then My Reports, by opening the decision and choosing Appeal. A person reviews every appeal, and we tell you the outcome. Appeals are free.
Grievance Appellate Committee. Under the Rules, a person aggrieved by a decision of the Grievance Officer may prefer an appeal to a Grievance Appellate Committee constituted by the Central Government, within thirty days of receiving our communication. The Committee endeavours to resolve the appeal within thirty calendar days of receiving it. Details of the Grievance Appellate Committees are published by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
Nothing on this page affects your right to pursue any other remedy available to you in law.
